Prologue & Team Road Race - July 3.

A prologue has been added to the team road race, the tour didn't have one this year so we will. It is a 1.6 km hillclimb from 22X up to the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation area parking lot. Half the points up for grabs on Wednesday night will be available for the hillclimb and the rest for the road race. Please show up as usual at the PMS parking area for sign up. Then you will all ride about 4 k east to the start of the hillclimb shown on the map, use that as a warm up. After the quick hillclimb we will all go to the NEW start of the road race, at the corner of 192 Street W and 22X.

Then it's time for some tactical racing.  Sign up is at the Priddis Meeting Spot - Highway 22 and 22X. The format will be teams of 5 or 6 with a mix of riders from A and B on each team. There will be a separate race for the C group, made up of a few teams depending on how many show up. Teamwork is what counts here, the winning team will be the one with all but one or possibly two riders crossing the finish line first. We'll try to start the prologue right at 6:30 PM, the team race is about 34 k for 2 laps for A and B. You will need to go neutral on the corners as there is gravel and a few potholes. I did a recon of the route, there is about 200 metres of gravel close to the start.

Will need a few volunteers. Also anyone have surveyors tape in different colours? Where can I buy that stuff?

Series 2 - Week 3 Improv Results June 26, 2013

Somewhere between Sunday and Wednesday, the Highways Department decided it was again time to thwart the race plans for WNS. We arrived to find 274 Avenue under construction, again! We managed to lay out an alternative course with about the same amount of pain and suffering as the proposed course, just needed a few u turns and everything was good. Solid turn out, solid racing tonight, really strong efforts in all 3 categories. Those of you racing won’t know that the little plastic bottle (containing a first aid kit) which marked a turn around and the finish line was the target of one of those F350 pickup truck racers. He took out the bottle with the skill of a Nascar driver, I’m sure he will be telling his wives and kids all about it.

Thanks to our excellent volunteers. See you all next week for a TEAM race.
