Solstice Shootout

Back with a vengence...it's the most exciting 300m in bicycle racing. We all know that bike races are generally long, plodding, and repetitive.  Really, it's just the prologue to the awesome.  Of course, I'm talking about the sprint.  The mano a mano challenge where the winner takes the glory, the fame, the fortune; and the loser the shame, the desolation, and the abject futility when  you realize that you are just not good enough.  Okay, maybe I'm overplaying it a bit but I just watched old NBC Ironman Hawaii coverage and life is apparently a huge set of stuggles that can only be overcome through the use of lots of big words, slow motion photography, and dramatic music.  Of course, a sad story helps but Al Trautwig can make it all better.  Al won't be here this Wednesday but I will try my best to sound a convincing facsimile.
I've checkout out the roadway that we'll be using, and although it's a little dirtier than last year and a little bumpier, it will stand in for the velodrome at Roubaix quite well.  Except for the lack of banking, crowds, tv cameras and generous Belgian hospitatlity.  My suggestion is to park at Springbank where we usually do and take advantage of the 4km distance to the race site to warmp up and size up the comptetition.  I will do sign up in the parking lot at Springbank and then make my way to the race course.  I do discourage parking near the race site as cyclists are perhaps a little too European for the populace and I generally like to maintain an underground feel to the races as, like stories of amateur athletic success,  it attracts little attention.
I hope the map is relatively explanatory, and if you have any questions, let me know.  This event is really a good fun challenge.  We'll have a round robin portion, rank the riders, and take up an elimination ladder.  Last year, a good time was had by all.  I could of course use a couple of volunteers so bring 'em if you got 'em.  Other than that, I'll see every body Wednesday by about 6:30 so we can get started at around 6:45.
